Safety at work is paramount, but in nearly every role manual handling is unavoidable. Perhaps, you accept a delivery or help a colleague move a table, the risks of injury whilst lifting are significant. In this course you will take a comprehensive look at safe manual handling and implement best practice into your own workplace to ensure the risk of injury and harm is as small as possible

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Evaluate the risks involved in manual handling
  • Relate manual handling law to their work
  • Explain, compare, and enact employer’s / employee responsibilities
  • Know how to implement best practice for lifting and reduce the risk of injury
  • Be able to collaborate to lift safely with a team
  • Understand the structure of the back and spine and how it can be injured
  • Implement methods of preventing back pain and strengthening the back

Audience

This course is for anyone who has manual handling operations in their line of work, including manual labourers, and those in the Health and Social Care sectors.
