Overview
This course describes how to follow LOLER guidance, to ensure that work is planned, organised, and performed safely.
Objectives
In this course you will learn to:
- The definition of a lifting operation
- The definition (and marking) of lifting equipment
- The equipment and operations that are covered by LOLER (and those excluded)
- The role of a competent person in the planning, organising, and supervision of lifting operations
- The responsibility to carry out thorough examinations and inspection of lifting equipment, and to record/report defects, and keep records
- The need to select appropriate equipment based on strength and stability
- The importance of positioning and installation
- The requirement to follow the HSE’s LOLER Approved Code of Practice and Guidance (ACOP).
About the Course
The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) aims to minimise the risks of using lifting equipment in the workplace.
