This course is designed to give you an overview of the key health and safety topics you need to know in order to be safe and well at work.

You will develop an understanding of relevant health and safety law and the responsibilities placed on your employer and yourself.

Topics covered include:

  • Preventing slips, trips and falls
  • Manual handling
  • Site and building security
  • Evacuation and fire safety
  • Electrical safety
  • Hazardous substances
  • Safety signs
  • First aid
  • Accident reporting procedures

Objectives

In this course you will:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of relevant health and safety law
  • Identify the responsibilities of employers and employees regarding health and safety
  • Apply key health and safety practices in the workplace, related to:
    • Preventing slips, trips, and falls.
    • Safe manual handling techniques to avoid injury
    • Maintaining a secure site or building environment
    • Recognising the importance of fire safety and evacuation
    • Working safely with electricity
    • Handling hazardous substances appropriately
    • Recognising and interpreting safety signs
    • Providing basic first aid
    • Following proper accident reporting procedures.
