Overview
Culture is a set of ideas, customs, and social behaviours of a particular people or society. This definition extends to the behaviour of an organisation. Health and safety needs to be ingrained into an organisation in order to build a strong health and safety culture.
This activity encourages you to rethink Health & Safety using the Three Ps: Prevent, Protect, Promote.
Objectives
By the end of this module, you’ll be able to:
- Explain the essential elements of a strong safety culture and their impact on the workplace according to the Health and Safety Executive
- Assess the impact of workplace culture on employee health and safety
- Clarify individual and organisational responsibilities for health and safety
- List different types of workplace hazards.
