Data protection laws exist to ensure that personal information is collected, used, and stored in a secure and responsible way. In the UK, data protection laws are governed by the UK's General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR, based on the European Union's GDPR legislation) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Objectives

  • Internalise the basic principles governing data protection laws
  • Gain familiarity with relevant UK legislation
  • See how privacy laws are followed - and violated
