Neurodiversity in the Workplace eLearning Course
Overview
In this course, you’ll see how fostering a work environment that embraces neurodiversity is beneficial for all and why it takes all types of brains for the modern business to thrive.
Neurodiversity is a term conceptualised by Judy Singer, an Autistic sociologist. She contends that diverse neurological conditions are the result of normal variations in human brain type. Thus, neurodiversity is about recognising, understanding, and respecting the fact that there are many different ways of thinking and experiencing the world. In the past, those whose brain's differed from the NeuroMajority were considered "deficient" in some way and needed "fixing". Luckily, we now know better.
Learning Objectives
In the workplace we are starting to realise the numerous benefits that neurodiversity brings.
In this course, you'll learn how to:
- Talk about neurodiversity respectfully and inclusively
- Foster neurodiversity in the workplace
- Help neurodivergent employees advocate for themselves
Why should I take this course
In a workplace that is neurodiversity-friendly, employees with divergent neurotypes can be a real benefit to the business and its people. With an estimated fifth of all people being neurodivergent and many of these being underemployed, embracing neurodiversity offers great potential to run a better managed, ethically-driven, and more competitive and productive business.
Audience
This module is for CEOs, managers, mentors, and co-workers who want to improve their understanding of neurodiversity and ability to foster a workplace where it is embraced and celebrated.
