Overview
Lockdowns are triggered for a variety of reasons to keep everyone inside the school safe. They can be frightening, and sometimes you won’t be able to speak to students when one is triggered. You need to understand the different types and how to support students to respond to them swiftly and appropriately.
Taking this course will help you build on what you’ve learnt from your school’s own lockdown policies and procedures and to explore the different types of lockdowns in detail. Following guidance about how to respond effectively to lockdowns will help you keep everyone safe. It’ll also support you to prepare students for what they’ll need to do if your school has to trigger one.
Outline Learning Objectives:
- Identify the difference between full lockdown, partial lockdown, and shelter-in-place, so you understand why each protective measure is necessary
- Recognise how to respond swiftly and efficiently to lockdown situations, so you can prioritise the safety of all students and staff
