Overview

Child criminal exploitation, or CCE, is a form of child abuse. It can take many forms but always involves manipulating or forcing children to commit crimes. You can’t afford to assume students will feel safe directly disclosing CCE. They may not even understand they’re being harmed. How can you make sure students impacted by CCE are given the support they need to safeguard them?

CCE is a complex form of abuse. Understanding what it is and the forms it can take will help you meet your statutory responsibilities. Remaining vigilant for the signs a child may be being criminally exploited will help you take steps to safeguard them. And knowing how to respond when you suspect a child may be experiencing CCE will help you protect them from further harm.
