Overview

Recording disclosures is an important part of safeguarding. It’s your chance to accurately and completely represent what a student has told or shown you. These records can also be reflected on, to develop and monitor safeguarding practices within the school or college.

Knowing how to overcome problems that may arise when recording safeguarding disclosures will help you to stay child-focused and preserve the student’s voice. This will allow you to create records that other agencies can use to safeguard the student. And it’ll provide a vital resource that your school or college can reflect on to develop their safeguarding practice.

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Identify common problems you may encounter when recording a disclosure and how to overcome them
  • Recall how to effectively record a disclosure so it can be used to safeguard the victim
