In this course, you’ll first learn some fundamental terminology about business processes and the many ways in which modelling them can help you, such as improved communication among stakeholders. You’ll then gain deeper insights into the four different types of business processes and the different levels of automation involved in each. As technology advances, more and more menial tasks are becoming automated, giving us the freedom to focus more on creative and strategic actions. This course encourages you to start thinking about how you can harness automation for your own purposes. After that, you’ll learn about some modelling languages and software tools available, before getting into the real meat of the course, where we’ll go through the elements in two of the key process modelling languages – BPMN 2.0 and UML. You’ll then start creating your own process diagrams.

Process modelling is the first step towards process improvement, which the final part of the course is about. We’ll introduce some popular methodologies that organisations use to improve their processes, as well as some everyday tips you can keep in mind.
