Data Literacy for Sales & Marketing Teams eLearning Course
Overview
Data literacy for sales and marketing means reading funnel and campaign numbers properly: conversion rates, attribution reports, A/B tests and pipeline forecasts. This practical course, a role-based companion to Data Literacy for Business 101, covers the small base trap, attribution's limits, test literacy and honest forecasting. Four short units, real scenarios, no hype.
Target Audience
Sales and marketing teams and their team leads. No technical background required.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion, learners will gain a full and clear understanding of:
- How to read a sales or marketing funnel stage by stage, and spot the small base trap at its lower stages
- How to compare channels and campaigns fairly, and know where to look first when funnel numbers disappoint
- How to read an attribution report with the understanding that its model is a choice, not a fact
- How to judge whether an A/B test result can actually be trusted, and what to ask before accepting a declared winner
- How to tell a vanity metric apart from one tied to revenue, in a sales and marketing context specifically
- How to build an honestly weighted pipeline forecast, and tell a seasonal pattern apart from a genuine trend
Course Contents
Unit 1: Funnel Data and the Small-Base Trap
- The funnel as the spine of sales and marketing data, from awareness through to closed-won
- Why a conversion rate lower down the funnel sits on a smaller, shakier base
- Stage-to-stage rates versus one blended overall number, and what the blend can hide
- Comparing channels and campaigns fairly when their volumes differ wildly
Unit 2: Attribution and Its Limits
- What attribution is actually trying to answer
- The three models you will meet most often, in plain English
- Why attribution is always a modelling choice, not a measured fact
- The specific blind spots every model shares
Unit 3: A/B-Test Literacy
- What an A/B test is actually testing, in plain English
- Why a test needs enough volume and enough time before its result can be trusted
- The classic mistakes that turn a noisy result into a false "winner"
- What to ask before trusting someone else's declared winner
Unit 4: Honest Forecasting, Real Metrics and Seasonality
- Vanity metrics versus revenue metrics, applied specifically to sales and marketing
- Why a sales pipeline is structurally optimistic, and how to weight it honestly
- Telling a seasonal pattern apart from a genuine change in demand
- Building a track record that earns trust in your own forecasts
