Overview

Safeguarding the health and well-being of adults at risk of harm is a fundamental pillar of a fair and compassionate society. This means that we all have a responsibility to both help prevent abuse and to act quickly when we see it.

This online learning course cover key aspects of adult safeguarding including - what it is; who is at risk of harm; who might pose a risk; and where risks are more probable. It also identifies the legislation relating to safeguarding and explores different types of harm and how to recognise them.

The course concludes with a look at who is responsible for safeguarding, and the frameworks for implementing effective safeguarding measures.

Outline Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the what, who and where of safeguarding
  • Explain the Care Act 2014 and other legislation relating to safeguarding
  • Explore 10 adult safeguarding issues and the signs to look for
  • Describe the responsibilities of local authorities and partner agencies
  • Investigate the wider view of safeguarding responsibilities
  • Establish the principles of safeguarding, and the three Rs of safeguarding

Audience:

This online learning course applies to all employees that come into contact with vulnerable adults and would be a useful course to include as part of onboarding training.
