Overview

This short course on the MCA has been developed in collaboration with the Department of Health. It is a shorter version of the more comprehensive course on the MCA 2005. All the key aims and principles of this important legislation are covered, including the concepts of 'mental capacity' and 'best interests'. It offers an overview of some of the key areas of learning for all staff whose work may be affected by the Act, including the importance of the Code of Practice and how the courts become involved. This course is popular with our professional carers and is also useful for informal carers and family members.
