Overview

This CPD Certified eLearning course has been designed to provide the learner with an understanding of The Care Certificate Standard 12, which covers basic life support within the health and social care sector. The course can be undertaken in any order and the learner must successfully pass the knowledge check to gain certification. The Care Certificate eLearning modules are designed to help you demonstrate knowledge and collect evidence required to complete the Care Certificate. These standards are the foundation of knowledge you need before you can work alone with the clients you will be supporting. Some information included in this course has been sourced from Skills for Care. This course has been written in conjunction with current guidance from the Resuscitation Council found in the 2021 Resuscitation Guidelines.

Learning Outcomes

• To gain an understanding of how to provide basic life support
• To gain an understanding of how to recognise and respond to an unresponsive individual who is breathing normally
• To gain an understanding of how to recognise and respond to an unresponsive individual who is not breathing normally
• To gain an understanding of how to safely use an automated external defibrillator
• To gain an understanding of how to recognise and respond to an individual who is choking
