Overview

A duty of care is “A moral or legal obligation to ensure the safety or well-being of others”. It’s an obligation well understood by employers and parents – and in health and social care it’s of particular importance. This short course will prepare you for all the different factors you need to consider when you your health or social care role includes an explicit duty of care.

Duty of Care’ encompasses managing risk, error reporting, dealing with conflict, and accepting comments and complaints. This course covers these topics, and introduces the learner to the recognition and correct response to incidents, errors and near misses.

Objectives

  • Be aware of incidents, errors and near misses
  • Know the relevant Health and Safety legislation
  • Know how to manage conflict and what to do when someone makes a comment or a complaint
