Course Overview

Typhoid fever, sometimes known as enteric fever, is a systemic infection caused by the gram-negative bacillus Salmonella entrica serovar typhi (S. typhi). This short course will provide you with a quick revision of the condition and is suitable for any non specialist healthcare professional that deals with travellers that are potentially exposed to typhoid.

Course Objective

By the end of this course you will understand:

  • What typhoid is and how it is transmitted.
  • In which areas of the world travellers have a higher risk of contracting typhoid.
  • The symptoms of typhoid.
  • The measures travellers can take to prevent typhoid infection.
  • The treatment and vaccines available.
