Overview

Sometimes children and young people behave in ways we don’t understand. In this course we’ll look at what behaviour can tell us about the child, what behaviour is unacceptable, and your role in managing behaviour. We’ll explore some ways of doing this as well as a deeper background in why challenging behaviours occur.

Learning Objectives

  • Know what a child’s behaviour can tell us
  • Understand that physical and mental health challenges can cause behavioural issues
  • Recognise how exploring consequences can help children to make better choices
  • Identify why teenagers might behave in particular ways
